- Venue:
The Outlook Conference & Training Facility in the town of Boonah, just 1 hour from Brisbane. The Outlook venue is far superior to the previous venue but comes at an acceptable increased cost of $220 for the weekend which includes 7 meals and morning and afternoon teas, motel like accommodation and a high standard of catering. - Accommodation:
Unit blocks sleeping up to 20 people in single and king single beds, 2 beds to a room, linen provided, multiple bathrooms, kitchens with fridge and freezer and all utensils, TV and a conference room if required with outdoor deck and BBQ. These units are fully air conditioned. The 7 unit blocks can accommodate up to 95 people. - Commercial Kitchen:
A modern commercial kitchen with servery, fridges, freezers, commercial ovens and stoves, cutlery and crockery and table linen with excellent catering facilities for all size groups. - Catering:
Event catering menus offer variety, flexibility and a delicious range of fresh, local produce. Our menus change seasonally and provide you with a changing selection of fresh, healthy choices. - Dining:
One of the conference rooms can be used as a dining room for up to 60 people. - Activity:
A full sized indoor basketball court, numerous power outlets, great lighting with adjacent toilets. More than enough room for wood crafting and wood turning activities.
Purpose of the weekend:
A weekend of mateship and sharing all the joys of woodturning and woodworking in
general. This will be the 18 th consecutive Q-Turn event.
Wood turning challenge:
All attendees will be given a similar piece of wood to create a piece of art over the weekend. Challenge winner will be from a vote count.
Wood turning workshop:
- Learn to turn from experienced turners.
- Lathe and turning chisels supplied.
- Suitable wood available.
Although this is a wood turning event other woodcrafters are welcome.
Equipment:
- The Ipswich Woodcrafts Club will provide bandsaw, drill press, grinders, lathes, and work tables.
- Please bring your own lathe, tools, portable power tools, chisels etc.
- Wood will be available on site for purchase or bring your own.
